Why This Matters
Nurse Practitioners in North Carolina are required to have a supervising physician even if they never consult them clinically. These outdated rules restrict access to care, especially in rural communities, and place an unfair financial burden on independent healthcare providers.
During the state of emergency following Hurricane Helene, NPs have practiced independently for nearly a year without incident. Now is the time to make that permanent.
